The SA SME Fund is partnering with Africa’s premier ecosystem accelerator, AfricArena, to identify tech-based small-to-medium enterprises (SME) that have high potential for scale. This joint initiative, the SA Startup Nation Challenge, is seeking Pre-Series A tech startups incorporated in South Africa and which have distinctive product market fit, technology and founding team to scale up.

Hello Tomorrow’s Deep Tech Challenge in Africa

For the second year, AfricArena is proud to partner with Hello Tomorrow on their deep tech Africa Challenge. Last year, the winner of the Africa Challenge, Nigerian startup RxAll, ended up winning the global competition and was awarded €100K!

The Africa Challenge is part of the world-renowned Hello Tomorrow Global Challenge which is a unique science-startup competition specifically designed for the needs of early-stage deep tech startups.

Participating startups in the Global Challenge can gain access to equity-free funding (up to €100K prize money), global visibility and connections with key players in the global deep tech ecosystem. Click here for more info.

Startups from Africa participating in the Africa Challenge will get a chance to pitch during the AfricArena Summit in Cape Town on 11 and 12 November 2019.

French Tech Challenge

Sponsored by the French Embassy in South Africa, this challenge calls for startups from the French Tech Ecosystem (incorporated in France), focused on scaling up with clear market fit and development strategy in the African market, and operating in the AI, Robotics or Augmented or Virtual Reality domains.

The chosen finalists will be able – by attending the AfricArena Summit and associated Startup Bootcamp program and Learning expeditions – to meet potential clients, partners and investors and discover the potential of the local market and ecosystems. Click here for more info.
