CPT is Top Destination for Conventions in Africa

The International Congress and Convention Association’s African Chapter recently named the City of Cape Town as the top destination in Africa for meetings and conferences. Over the past year, the city hosted 51 international association meetings, attracting over 26 000 delegates. The 30 bids secured over this past year has an estimated economic impact of more than R1.2 billion. The City’s Mayco member for economic opportunities and asset management, Alderman James Vos, said his mission and vision for his directorate was to ensure it provided an environment that supports growth, so that the city could attract investment which in turn would lead to more jobs for the people of Cape Town.
