Many businesses are struggling to survive due to the lockdown and employees around the country are either enduring pay cuts or losing their jobs. Since the government implemented level 4 of the lockdown on 1 May 2020, limited economic activity for some businesses has been allowed to resume.

Palm Grove Spar in the Western Cape is playing their part by lightening the financial burden of their neighbouring businesses who are trying to stay afloat. The supermarket shared on their Facebook page that they would remove all stationery and burger patties from its aisles, for the benefit of their neighbouring businesses, PenCafe stationers and RocoMamas.

The supermarket is overwhelmed with gratitude as they are serving the community and its staff are earning an income. They emphasised the importance of business owners sticking together and supporting one another in these trying times. As business owners, now more than ever, they need to support each other.
