The importance of wearing facemasks in public is crucial in helping to stop the spread of Covid-19 virus. Many people, including essential workers, school children, homeless individuals and visitors to hospitals and care facilities do not have access to masks due to the nationwide shortage, putting themselves, and others at risk.

Therefore, Smile 90.4FM is partnering with Brimstone Investment Corporation to distribute one million facemasks to organisations and groups in and around Cape Town who need them. People may nominate organisations who require facemasks by visiting the Smile 90.4FM’s website and you can also make an impact by donating towards the one million facemasks campaign.

Smile 90.4FM managing director Lois O’Brien said, “We have noticed that there is a massive demand for masks, for many people have no access to them. In the coming weeks, Smile 90.4FM in partnership with Brimstone Investment Corporation aims to give away one million cloth facemasks to local organisations and groups of people who desperately need masks. With the power of radio and the incredibly generous and loyal Smile 90.4FM audience, we want to make a difference by changing lives and protecting lives in this case.”

If you would like to be part of the Smile-in-Action One Million Masks for Cape Town initiative (for a minimum of only R16 per mask), please visit smile904.fm and help fight the spread of Covid-19 virus.
