[Watch] The City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Opportunities, Alderman James Vos, announces new partnership with Strategic Business Partner, BlueCape.

The City of Cape Town is proud to be one of the top catamaran-producing cities in the world. The boatbuilding industry, including commercial and oceans sports, has secured investments worth over R25 billion and created over 4 500 direct jobs and 7 000 indirect jobs, since 2014. So the City will now provide funding to BlueCape to ensure that this sector has skilled people and other support they need to keep growing, focusing on marine manufacturing including boatbuilding, superyachts and ocean sports.

Specifically, BlueCape will manage a database of vetted superyacht suppliers and will develop training materials and career pathways, facilitate internships and job creation. Our economic landscape is favourable because we support the high-growth sectors that will drive demand and make business sense.
