Fostering international relations with India

Today, on behalf of the City of Cape Town, Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Opportunities and Asset Management, Alderman James Vos, had the distinct pleasure of meeting with the new Consul General of India to Cape Town, Mr Ashok Babu.

As a fellow member of the BRICS grouping, the discussions about opportunities to collaborate on travel and trade programmes were fruitful.
Some of the Indian companies investing in Cape Town include Cipla Medpro, State Bank of India, Systime, Tata and Indian Hotels, with investments concentrated mainly in the Information Communications Technology (ICT), Pharmaceutical, Hotel and Tourism and Financial Services sectors.

Alderman Vos commented that “Through my office, I look forward to working with the Indian Consulate on the travel and trade opportunities we discussed. By working together, I know that we can contribute to the economic prosperity for both of the city’s we represent.
