University of Cape Town’s position as best on the continent confirms the Mother City is a great place to study

STATEMENT BY THE CITY’S MAYORAL COMMITTEE MEMBER FOR ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES AND ASSET MANAGEMENT, ALDERMAN JAMES VOS

I would like to congratulate the University of Cape Town for being ranked the top tertiary institution on the African continent and 155th out of the 200 best universities globally, according to the World University Rankings.

Our city offers a sophisticated, diverse and dynamic economy. This accolade for Cape Town goes to show that we have so much to offer no matter what you are looking for.

Our access to sound infrastructure, good governance, as well as a skilled workforce, along with UCT and the numerous other internationally recognized universities and colleges, makes Cape Town the world-class destination it is.

That is why a cornerstone of my departments’ recovery plan is the Six Pillar strategy – our strategic marketing and communications approach to REIMAGINING & REIGNITING visitor demand in Cape Town – so we can share with the rest of the country and the world why the Mother City is the top destination to Visit, Live, Work, Study, Play & Invest.

This Six Pillar Strategy allows us to provide a rich and holistic view of all the city has to offer across the six themes.

I look forward to sharing more about this exciting campaign in the near future and I am confident that by exhibiting the abundance that Cape Town has to offer, combined with the recovery plans we have in place, we will come back from this crisis, stronger than before.
