The annual Cape Town International Boat show, presented by Mercedes-Benz, drew in crowds from across the world this weekend.

Now in its 18th year, the show was recently acquired by Messe Frankfurt, the world’s third largest trade fair and exhibition organisers. Hosted at Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront from 19 – 21 October 2018, the show brought together manufacturers and buyers of luxury boats, accessories and marine equipment to share and explore the many facets of the boating and related industries.

The South African boat building industry has gained international credibility, regularly winning international awards and building a strong reputation among international boat designers and consumers. A notable success is that South Africa has grown to become the world’s second largest producer of recreational catamarans, after France. This international acclaim is not only for the final produced watercraft (including other vessels) but additionally for components such as sails and masts.

Says Boat Show Director, Kathryn Frew: “Not only was this year’s event much bigger than previous shows, with over 120 exhibiting companies, we also introduced a range of interactive experiences and features. From sailing competitions, to SUP racing, dragon boat racing, and a host of other activities.”
