SUCCESS STORY

ROCK STAR DRUMMER FROM THE CAPE FLATS: WADE BROWN ESTABLISHES HIS COMPANY, POTTS MUSIC.

Meet a homegrown, ’rock star’ Capetonian drummer. He’s talented local guy, Wade Brown, born and raised in the Mother City. Brown describes himself as “a rock star drummer from the Cape Flats.”

“At nine years old,” he says, “I started playing the drums – and I taught myself.” Brown, who also goes by the name Potts, now has years of experience behind him.

He’s been meeting and playing with bands since the age of 13 and has played at most of South Africa’s leading festivals, including Rocking the Daisies, Ramfest and Synergy Live. The highlights of his career, says Brown, have been getting airtime on major radio stations and appearing on TV.

“In 2018, I also had the opportunity to tour both France and Germany,” he says. ‘Potts’ has even shared the stage with major bands like Anderson .Paak, Bring Me The Horizon, and Rise Against, and has worked and recorded with London-based producer, John Fortis.

His interest in rock music makes him unique, says ‘Potts,’ who says he set himself apart from other drummers by taking a different road into the music industry. The drummer has established his own company, Potts Music, teaching children to play the drums and pursue their musical endeavours. “The expansion of my company,” he says, “and continuing to share my experience with up-and-coming drummers.”
